Abu Dhabi-based OFW finds new opportunity after five-month struggle of getting half salary

Paulyn Juat has been working in the UAE for almost 3 years now and her job as a cashier cum waitress used to help support her family back in the Philippines. However, when the pandemic struck, her company was forced to pay her half of what she used to get.

With prayers and perseverance, she chose to stay for around five months more as since she knew she couldn’t afford to lose her monthly earnings, especially during these times.

When Juat learned of a new job opportunity through a friend, she said that she immediately grabbed the opportunity in the hopes of finding a new employer.

“Nung may nakapag-refer sa akin na isang kaibigan na mag-apply sa kanila, ginrab ko agad at nung makapasa, nag-resign na ako sa dati kong kumpanya,” said Juat.

Count your blessings

She said that it’s more important these days to maintain a positive mindset, count your blessings, and especially to pray and be thankful since these would help make you be more appreciative of what you have at present.

She also urges fellow OFWs to learn how to save especially these days to help them prepare for unforeseen circumstances.

Juat said that she will continue to persevere to provide for her family’s needs back home, stating that her OFW story has just begun.
