‘NANGHIHINA NA LAGI KATAWAN KO’: UAE-based Filipina COVID-19 survivor says her body is not how it was after recovery

A Filipina based in the UAE who survived coronavirus disease (COVID-19) said that her body has drastically weakened even after she has fully recovered.

Ardelyn Deita, 34, said that her body is not how it used to be prior to contracting the disease, and that the strength she once had is seemingly gone.

She was first diagnosed on May 12 after she suffered from sore throat, headache, fever, cough, and breathing difficulties. She added that she was only advised to undergo self-quarantine at home, where she was given a smart watch from the Department of Health to monitor her movement.

The OFW was declared negative for the disease on June 18 after over eight swab tests. However, she still feels irregularities in her body up to now.

Aside from weakened body, the Filipina also noted her struggle to get enough sleep.

“Ang epekto s akin ay sa ngayon, hirap ako makatulog kahit anong pilit ko ipikit ang mga mata ko,” she said.

The disease has also traumatized her, causing her to act obsessive-compulsively around her surroundings.

For now, Deita said she’s following a balanced diet, eating more fruits and vegetbles, as well as drinking vitamins, as well as natural teas every day.

Wear a mask at Pantaloon ang social distancing,” she said.
