WATCH: Filipina doctor uses 'breath test' to check if medical mask is fake

As more individuals continue purchasing medical masks, a young Filipina doctor shows a simple test as to how people can check if their mask really works as a deterrent.
Dra. Leslee Anne Herrera showed that breathing through the mask and trying to blow off the fire on a lighter is an easy test to see if your medical mask is fake or not, as per a video posted by netizen Apple Flores Buñing.
If the light goes out, it’s fake. If it doesn’t then the medical mask works as intended.

As of this post, Dra. Herrera’s video already has over 355,000 views, 9,000+ comments and reactions, and 27,000+ shares.
Earlier, the World Health Organization repeated its call for the general public to reserve such medical masks for health workers and people showing COVID-19 symptoms.
“The use of medical masks in the community may create a false sense of security, with neglect of other essential measures, such as hand hygiene practices and physical distancing, and may lead to touching the face under the masks and under the eyes, result in unnecessary costs, and takes masks away from those in health care who need them most, especially when masks are in short supply,” said the WHO.
