The Philippine Consulate for Dubai will be hosting a panel of Filipina leaders from all over the UAE to share their inspiring stories as part of the celebrations of the International Women’s Day, to be held at the Consulate grounds from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
The talks, done in partnership with the Ateneo School of Government Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship, will feature eight empowered Filipinas in the region including Dra. Yasmin Balajadia-Cortes, Prime Group CEO Dr. Mary Jane Alvero Al Mahdi, New Perspective Media Group CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Karen Remo, PHD Media Business Unit Director Roxane Negrillo, Professional Life Coach Lou Olvido-Parroco, Dagaz HR Consultancy Managing Director Cristina Calaguian, Sanofi Communications and CSR Director Jorhie Alban, and The Filipino Channel Broadcast Journalist Rachel Salinel.
Dr. Yasmin Balajadia-Cortes shares that the morning will be filled with inspiring stories about diversity in the workplace, work-life balance, finding success in your chosen field, gender parity, and overcoming challenges as a woman.
“We wish to share the stories of Filipino women in the UAE to inspire others to keep reaching for their potentials, not based on their desire to prove their worth in comparison to men but to simply be their most excellent self,” said Balajadia-Cortes.
She also hopes that those who will attend to remind themselves that empowerment comes from within: “Overseas Filipino women must keep in mind that their worth is not based on any prejudice about what women or Filipinos could achieve. Their visions of who they can be are as worthy as any other ethnicity, regardless of class, gender, or economic standing.”
