Lorena Aranda-Castro, a native of Mindoro who has been working for more than six years in the UAE, rose above 13 lovely candidates who graced the stage during the first-ever Mutya ng Kasambahay held last December 20 as part of the celebrations for the Paskuhan sa Abu Dhabi 2019.
Aranda-Castro has been working as an OFW for 19 years, working in other countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, and Cyprus. The year 2020 will mark Aranda-Castro’s sixth year in the UAE.Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana speaks to one of the employers of the candidates as she graced the evening’s event and personally spoke to the supporters of each of the candidates.In an interview with The Filipino Times, Aranda-Castro hopes that her win would inspire fellow kasambahays who all play a crucial role at many homes not just in the UAE, but around the world. “Maging huwaran nawa kami na mahusay, at mapagkakatiwalaang mga kasambahay, sapagkat saming balikat nakasalalay ang kaayusan at kaligayahan ng tahanang aming pinaglilingkuran. The event was organized collaboration with Abu Dhabi Bayanihan Council headed by Chairman Ronald Precilla and OFW Global Movement for Empowerment headed by Sheryl Palacios-Manalo, who also served as the Paskuhan 2019 Event Chairman. The event was also supported by community groups, in an event choreographed and directed by United Cebuanos Artistic Director Egie Pepito “Kawaii” Esma.
