Filipinos and expats all around the UAE are already anticipating the upcoming longest holiday break of the year as the country comes together to celebrate the Spirit of the Union – the 48th National Day celebrations.

In line with the celebratory mood, the UAE Government has officially announced that December 1, Sunday will be a holiday in honor of Commemoration Day for UAE’s martyrs, while December 2 and 3 will be the annual National Day holidays. Combine that with residents who enjoy their day off during Fridays and Saturdays and you’ll have a total of a five day holiday as the country relishes the most vibrant and spectacular revelries for the whole world to witness.

The Filipino Times has rounded up the top activities that you can enjoy during the week:

November 29: Emirates’ historic ‘Tolerance flight’

Prior to the UAE’s 48th National Day celebrations, Emirates Airlines kicks it off with the historic one-off A380 flight this November 29 to bring together as many nationalities as possible on the plane.

Emirates’ Flight EK2019 welcomes Filipinos as well as other residents from over 200 nationalities living in the UAE to be part of the journey to board the plane decorated with a bespoke “Year of Tolerance” livery that showcases the country’s multiculturalism and diversity through vivid illustrations that appear on both sides of the aircraft.

December 2: Legacy of our Ancestors

The UAE’s long-held tradition of sharing the origins of the Spirit of the Union comes together in a dazzling evening of world-class performances, innovative light shows and festive fireworks with the inaugural show “Legacy of our Ancestors” that serves as the country’s official 48th UAE National Day Celebration.

“Legacy of our Ancestors” is expected to fill the halls and rows of the Zayed Sports City Stadium with residents coming from all over the UAE to witness the country’s stories of courage, pride and will show how Emiratis from the past have shown resilience, resourcefulness, devotion, and greatness as their legacy lives on for generations to come.

December 6: ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon

Marathon lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and the general public who love fun runs will surely enjoy the upcoming ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon where residents are expected to flock the starting line at the iconic ADNOC Headquarters near the Corniche.

With options of runs spanning from a 2.5km fun run, 5k, 10k, as well as the 42km marathon, residents can easily select which among these would best fit their fitness goals as they take part in Abu Dhabi’s grandest marathon run to be held this 2019.

In addition, ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will also be hosting a family-friendly ‘Energy Zone’ beginning December 2 until 5 which will be the marathon’s official fan village where athletes, families and friends can enjoy a variety of activities as they anticipate the upcoming run on the 6th.
