Girl,21, suddenly dies after complaining of headache

A young woman, 21, died in the arms of her mother the day after she complained of a headache.

Jessica Cain, who hails from the town of Tyne and Wear, England, took paracetamol before going to bed but the next day she was found unresponsive by her mother, reported The Sun UK.

“She said she had a bit of a headache and felt a bit groggy. She took a couple of paracetamol and water and went to bed,” her mother, Sheila Rowell, was quoted as saying.

Rowell tried to perform CPR on her but to not avail. When the paramedics arrived at their home, the woman was already lifeless.

It was later found that the woman contracted meningitis, an inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. She also contracted septicemia or blood poisoning.

According to Medical News Today, bacterial meningitis is the most serious type of this disease, which can lead to permanent disability or death.

“Early signs include a fever and stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, and increased sensitivity to light. Immediate medical attention is essential,” the health information website says.
