Dubai Good Samaritan goes viral

DUBAI: Reynaldo Buenaflor Angulo, fondly known as “Kuya Rey” and “Tatay Rey” for the help he has given to those in dire straits, said he hopes people emulate his deeds.

This as a post by The Filipino Times about his commitment to the community went viral with almost 203,000 reach and a long line of comment thread from those he had helped expressing gratitude.

“I am humbled,”Angulo told The Filipino Times when asked about how he felt with his story having gone viral.

“I am speechless. I am but a very simple person. My life has been the hospital, my work and my home. That’s it. I sincerely hope that the story will inspire others to make someone’s day brighter and to offer kindness to people who are down and out,” Angulo said.

Angulo, who lives in Satwa, a known Filipino enclave, said he could not immediately recall all the names of the people he had helped “but I can recognize them when I see their faces.”

In the posted report, Angulo, a recognized volunteer social worker at Rashid Hospital, said: “I do what I do because I want to get out of my self-centered thinking, to be useful and be able to make a difference in somebody else’s life by giving a piece of my heart to those who need comfort and reassurance during turbulent moments.

“I always look for opportunities to lend a helping hand because no one has to face the world alone.”

The post had over 14,500 page views; 23,300 engagements and almost 200 shares as of press time.
