Taiwan bus posts ‘Huwag Maingay’ sign for Filipinos

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Taiwan reminded fellow Pinoys there to keep it down when having conversations while on public transportations. This, citing a signage in one of the buses he rode that read: “Bawal ang Maingay” and which means, “Observe silence.”

Ariel Abalos took photos of the bus signage and showed to his fellow OFWs.

Filipinos are widely known for being a cheerful, jovial lot – which, as the signage incident indicated, could sometimes be taken out of context.

“Paalala po sa ating mga Pilipino dito sa Taiwan. Nakakalungkot may Filipino word at Chinese translation pa,” Gonzales said in a Facebook page.

Gonzales added that the sign was in a bus bound for Zhongli.

“Nagulat lang po ako kasi bakit Tagalog translation at Chinese lang. Marami naman din pong ibang lahi pero naka-address talaga sa mga Pilipino yung naka-paskil,” Abalos added.

Abalos added that bus drivers in Taiwan scold Filipinos who are noisy.

“Lalapitan ka or mag-microphone para sabihin manahimik ka. Pati Taiwan citizen nanaway din po talaga. Pero sadyang maingay po talaga ang Pinoy or masayahin lng po talaga siguro tayo,” Abalos told ABS-CBN News. (TN)
