A family in Hawaii has won a Guinness World Record for the world’s heaviest avocado at 5.6 pounds.
The Pokini family from Maui island received the Guinness certificate.
An average avocado weighs about 6 ounces or 170 grams.
Guinness officials said the Pokinis’ avocado tree is more than ten years old and stands 20 feet tall.
The family has entered the avocado last December for Guinness recognition and underwent a tough verification process.
The family tried to enter their first avocado but didn’t get the record after not meeting all the requirements needed.
For their second attempt the family formed a team to grow the record breaking fruit.
“We were excited. But at the same time, we were like, finally. It was such a long wait,” the family said.
