A seven-year-old Filipina was chosen as a regional winner in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Innovation Fair on 22 September 2019 on design of future aircraft.
Helene Margaret Bariso Elias, together with her parents, attended the awarding ceremony in Montreal, Canada that was attended by ICAO Secretary General Fang Liu and ICAO Council President Olumiyiwa Benard Aliu.
Ambassador to Canada Petronila P. Garcia, in a letter in early September, informed Elias of her win ahead of the public announcement made by ICAO.
Garcia thanked Elias for making the Philippines proud of her accomplishment at such a young age.
