Health Survey: Only 1 out of 10 Pinoys use contraceptives during sex

Filipinos have registered a very low rate of contraceptive use with more of them being sexually active but failing to use contraceptives during sex.

A health survey released by an organization named PhilCare showed that only 1 in 10 sexually active Filipinos use contraceptives.

The survey has 1,350 respondents and 820 of them have confirmed that they are sexually active.  But only 13.23 percent of the 820 respondents told the survey that they use protection during sex to avoid sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

The study also found out that the younger generation, which covers the 18-30 year old bracket, opts for sexual protection the most, compared to other age groups.

Residents in Mindanao also used more protection than in other areas in the country.

3 out of 10 or 26.84 of Mindanao residents who claimed to be sexually active said they use protection.
