The great outdoors: A liberating experience for OFWs

DUBAI: Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who feel they have come full circle with the social activities available to ward off homesickness find comfort in the thought that there are outdoor groups that they can join to try something different.

“Nag-oorganize po kami ng iba’t ibang events para matulungan silang maalis ang kanilang panlulumbay,” said Engr. Frankie Boton, head of an outdoors mountain biking group that is also into sports like basketball and dart tourneys.

“We have a Mountainbiking Race on Sept.27. We have our 1st Filipino Bike Expo on Oct. 4; and an out-of-town biking and tour sa Georgia on Oct.10-12,” said Boton.

“Aside from our events this year, mas marami pa po kaming nakahain na para sa 2020. Like more social work activities. Our group is composed of people from all walks of life. Wala po kaming pinipili sa membership at wala rin kaming pinipiling bike, kesyo mura o mamahalin pa yan as long as tumatakbo sya ng maayos,” said Boton.
