‘Gasoline girl’ receives scholarship after returning money worth Php200K

A gasoline station worker received a scholarship grant as reward after she returned a bag with Php200,000.

This one of the rewards Abigail Degamo is set to receive due to her honesty.

“Nag-advice na rin ang admin kung ano ang additional rewards namin na ibibigay kay Abigail,” Chery Apilan the bag’s owner who also works in a school in Davao City said.

Apilan said that the bag with hundreds of thousands of pesos when she was in a tricycle.

Degamo picked it up when she was at the gasoline station.

“Inisip ko lang na hindi para sa akin ‘yun at hindi akin ‘yun kasi malaking halaga din ‘yun at ang hirap kayang gumastos ng hindi sa iyo,” Degamo told ABS-CBN News.

After Degamo’s radio announcement Apilan went to the station and proved that she was the owner of the bag with money because they will use it for the school’s intramurals.

Apilan said that the school will give additional cash reward to Degamo.

The school also offered a 4-year college scholarship to Degamo.

“Bibigyan namin siya ng certificate of appreciation and ibibigay namin sa kaniya ‘yung proposal ng administrator namin na 4-year scholarship sa college niya,” Apilan said.

Degamo is thankful for these rewards and said that she will not miss this opportunity to get a college degree.
