‘Floating kabaong’: Burial pushes through amid chest deep flood waters

Amid heavy rains brought by tropical storm Ineng in the country this weekend, a burial in Ilocos Norte managed to push through despite chest-deep flood.

The province is now under State of Calamity due to intense rains and tropical storm ‘Ineng’.

Photos shared by Debra Matulin showed the chest-deep flood water in their area while carrying her relative’s casket to her final resting place.

Six men carried the casket and put on a ‘jet ski’ like motorcycle.

Matulin said they felt saddened by how the ceremony went on because of the bad weather.

“Lubos naming ikinalulungot ang pagpapaalam namin sa’yo sa ganitong paraan. Dobleng sakit ang aking nararamdaman. Hindi namin inaakala na aabot ng ganito. Ipagdasal mo sana kami at sana makapagpahinga ka nasa piling ng Diyos,” Matulin said in Ilocano.

Her post has now more than two thousand shares on Facebook.
