For those who don’t have plans of flying out of UAE this Eid al Adha long weekend vacation, many Filipinos tick their “to do’s” based on their priorities. Here are the top five plans of Pinoys in the UAE this long weekend.

Rent a room or book in a hotel

Four years in the UAE and working as an Administrative assistant, Queenie Arevalo, 30 wants to book a room and set a reunion with good friends. Queenie will also prepare food for all of her loved ones here.

“I and my husband is also planning to visit Atlantis and Lego Land for our son. We believe he will be super happy this long weekend free time,”

Last year, Queenie and his husband went to their relatives and have some good time bonding moments with other Pinoys.

Beach getaway

Summer is not yet over for some Filipinos who want to spend their long weekend dipping on waters. For them, embracing the sea would give them a different kind of relaxation out from the hustle and bustle of work.

Physiotherapist and entrepreneur Maricar Padilla, 40, plans to go to Al Quwain Beach and spend the long vacation along with nature. For 11 years working in the UAE, she wants to go “off-mode” every long-weekend to de-stress herself.

“No need to travel far. Last year I went to Fujeira. But now, I want to meet the sea and breathe” she said.

Abu Dhabi

“We plan to go to Abu Dhabi specifically in Corniche,” Stephanie Tenorio, 34 said in an interview with her. She wants to visit Abu Dhabi for the very first time.

“We will bring food there and will celebrate my birthday on August 13,” she added.

Stephanie, a household worker for eight years also wants to go out of the regular work mode. But asked if given a chance, she’ll spend her long weekend vacation in the Philippines, but due to expensive ticket, she can’t.

Food trip anywhere

The craze over food never stops, for some wants to spend a long weekend finding for good food anywhere.

Gina dela Torre, 42 years old, works as a cashier in the UAE for 8 years. She wants to spend her long weekend vacation with her friends.

“We want to have a food trip to some good restaurants here. I think looking for good food offered by different restaurants is the best form of relaxation among all,” she said.

Staycation

31 years old Maria Teresa Avila Calma works as Customer Service Officer for 6 years. Usually, she visits her sister for a long weekend. For her, being with loved ones is a different feeling. It removes all the stress a person has inside especially when they finally meet.

“I’m planning to see my family and close friend. Our regular meetings made impossible due to our busy schedules, so ill seize this moment to be with them. Being at home is already okay, Maria explained.

“Nowadays we need to become more practical. Instead of going to malls, why not spend more time inside with your loved ones. A little food trip goes a long way,” she added.

Aside from “staycation” this long weekend, she also wants to go to Al Mamzar beach. There are parks where you can share our food with your family and friends. It’s very relaxing. Simple but memorable for me,” she added.

Last year, Jonalyn Habana, 29, went to the beach to spend her long weekend there. But now, she opts to be with her friends inside the flat.

“My plan this coming weekend is to spend time with my friends since I don’t have family here in the UAE. I think we need enough time to unwind and relax,” she said.
