Five things to consider when traveling

Any activities this long weekend? Whether you’re planning to go out of the country, or within UAE, or within Dubai, consider these five major things to tick and make sure that you put these reminders on your mind.

Pack Light – If you think that traveling means carrying all the things you have in your room, well, that’s a big No! Bring only light clothes including towels. You won’t need as much as you think. Roll your ironed clothes and stack these one-by-one to save spaces. Keep our gadgets including cameras, watch, power banks, and chargers on a separate pack or side of your bag. Then put all of your cleaning kits on the side, and towels at the top. When you get perspired during travel or long walks, it’s easy to get towels to freshen up and wipe the wets.

Don’t bring jewelry and other stuff anymore. Your goal is to enjoy and take a moment on your trip and not to show all of your properties. Again, travel light.

Use a small backpack/suitcase – You will be forced to carry light things when you use small backpacks. Most of the travelers fill all the spaces inside when they have large bags. Having a small case also means light packs.

Have extra money or bring extra bank cards – In case of emergency, the extra money could save you from everything. Additional travel fees, fares, service charges from restaurants, and many other extra payments are expected when traveling. Also, it is good to have a backup in case you lose your cards, or you spent all of your allowances. So always have spare money to use. Keep it safely not on your wallet but in your bag.

Use comfortable shoes, have extra socks, and always bring slippers/sandals – expect the unexpected. You’ll go to a place where you need to dip your feet on waters, or remove your shoes in a specific place, or have long walks. Having comfortable shoes wouldn’t make you feel tired, and having slippers would save you from other unexpected places.

Bring water and extra food – standing in a long queue and waiting for long hours are anticipated situations. Biscuits and bread with bottled mineral water and juice could save you from immediate and extreme thirst and hunger. Always have it in your bags. Small meals are important. Also, bringing some food is a form of saving when traveling.

Always remember that you need to travel at least once. Traveling also means learning. It will also teach you to fend for yourself, talk to other people, learn from other cultures, and handle unexpected situations with ease.

Filipino life coach Efren Elane said that vacation or rest is a change of activity, not a no-activity. Its purpose is to allow people to take a step backward and to prepare everyone to move several steps forward. It invigorates for what lays ahead.

“This Eid al Adha, cultural diversity and inclusion are necessary for mutual understanding and world peace, and, for productivity and innovation for companies, civil societies, and governments,” he said.

“Traveling opens a wide horizon for cultural enrichment, mutual understanding and help, and innovation. It pays well to immerse oneself in culture, lifestyle, and commerce of a country as one pursues business in it,” Elane added.

Have a safe trip everyone.
