Labor chief says dysmenorrhea leave possible if employers agree

Labor Chief Silvestre Bello said he is open to the possibility of granting a special leave for women suffering from menstrual cramps or dysmenorrhea.

However, Bello was quick to clarify in an interview with ABS-CBN News that it’s still an employee-employer bargaining agreement if this can be granted.

“Magandang idea (That’s a good idea). That can be the subject of a collective bargaining agreement between the employee and the employer,” Bello said.

Dysmenorrhea or menstrual cramps are painful episodes that affect women before and during their menstrual period.

These can last from two to four days.
