FDA warns public vs. 5 unregistered food supplements

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public against the presence of five unregistered food supplements present in the market.

Based on FDA Advisory 2019-155, the public is advised against the purchase and consumption of the five unregistered products:

1)Vitacio Maca Root Extract Complex (500 mg)
2)Doctor’s Best, Best Probiotic 20 Billion CFU
3)Probiotic Pearls Women’s Digestive & Yeast Balance
4)Puritan’s Pride Chewable Chlorophyll with Natural Spearmint Flavor
5) Scivation Xtend BCAAs, Mango Flavor.

The FDA also reminded establishments not to sell these food supplements.

FDA said the unregistered products may pose potential health hazards to the consuming public.

“Since these unregistered food supplements have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose health risk to consumers,” it said in a statement.

FDA also advised all local government units and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the said products are not sold or made available in their localities or areas of jurisdiction.
