‘Buboy’ the loyal dog killed in hit and run accident

‘Pinoy Hachiko’ or Philippines’ local version of a loyal dog ‘Buboy’ died after it was ran over by a vehicle Wednesday morning.

The loyal dog captured the hearts of netizens when videos and photos of the dog circulated online showing the dog it patiently waiting for Teacher Carmelito Marcelo who passed away that month.

The dog kept on waiting to his dead owner until it was brought to the teacher’s wake.

“AKF mourns the tragic, untimely passing of the loyal Askal, Buboy. Initial reports say that the dog was ran over by a vehicle this morning. Volunteer caregivers, despite a holiday, rushed over to the campus to check and found Buboy already lifeless,” Animal Kingdom Foundation posted on Facebook.

The Facebook post said that Buboy waited for the school guard’s shift to finish and follow him around but got hit by a jeepney upon reaching the highway.

“Run free #Buboy. Gone too soon. ?Every animal-loving Filipino mourns today,” AKF said.
