FilFood Fest 2019 launched in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, FilFood Fest 2019 was successfully launched at the Philippine Independence Day celebration held at the Dusit Thani Hotel.

FilFood Fest 2019 is a month-long festival running from June 12 to July 12 2019 aiming to showcase the Filipino cuisine, along with Philippine produce and ingredients, to the international arena. Following a series of conferences held in the recent months in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it is the product of a strong collaboration between Filipino food & beverage operators and stakeholders in the UAE. For the entire month, locals, tourists and residents alike can discover authentic, fresh Filipino food in more than twenty participating restaurants and partner venues in both cities.

At its Philippine Independence Day launch, guests of different nationalities were provided the opportunity to discover and indulge in traditional Filipino cuisine through a “culinary trip-themed” food tour with the country’s top Filipino chefs as culinary guides. Guests were treated to signature dishes such as Kilawin Tanuigue (freshly marinated king fish with vinegar), Sariwang Lumpia (fresh vegetable rolls with chicken & shrimps), Lechon Baka na may Atchara, Lechon Sauce or Bistek Onion Sauce (roast beef carvery with Filipino sauces), Seafood Paella, the famous Halo-Halo and more.

Celebrating the Year of Tolerance with the entire UAE, this is a platform for us to feature the diversity and warmth of the Filipino culture.”

Jovy Tuano, Executive Director of FilFood Fest 2019 concluded, “We are positive that FilFood Fest 2019, which is happening for the first time, will pave the way for even more great opportunities in the culinary world. We are excited for our Filipino chefs, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs as we create more avenues aiming for the advancement of Filipino cuisine in the UAE and all over the world.”
