Single? Amsterdam tourists can ‘marry’ a local for a day

Travelling alone and single? Amsterdam is promoting a different way where tourists can positively contribute to the city.

Part of the initiatives is the “Marry an Amsterdammer”, where a tourist may marry a Dutch for a day.

The itinerary includes a 35-minute wedding ceremony with complete rings, vows and proper attire.

The “honeymoon” is more of a tour around the less explored part of the city.

This activity is one of the initiatives by the group Untourist Amsterdam.

According to its co-founder Sabine Linz in an interview with The Independent, this is one way of helping the city in turning tourists as “changemakers”.

Through these activities, tourists may get to know their partners for that day while also doing positive changes for the city.

These activities will be launched next week where the “weddings” are expected to take place.

There has been a noted increase in the visitors in Amsterdam.

It is predicted that it will reach almost 29 million for the next 10 years.

Currently, the city enjoys a tourist arrival of 19 million.
