Portrait artist becomes instant socmed sensation

DUBAI: A portrait artist, who, for lack of rented space to use as a shop and has resorted to roaming the streets for customers, is now a social media sensation after he came across a netizen who, impressed by his talent, posted his picture and work on her Facebook page.

The viral post landed as a newsbit on kami.com, a Tagalog-language good-read portal about Filipinos, which identified the old man as Art Cuvinar and which likewise called on other netizens interested to have their portraits done to at least give some more as a matter of support.

The post also identified the netizen as Maeriel Aquino, who admitted being hesitant at first to talk to tatay Art when he approached her and her cousin, Kendra, a little girl.

According to the report, the post about tatay Art by Aquino generated 49,000 reactions; her page flooded with inquiries about the old man’s contact details.
