Two Filipino artists have decided to give the refrigerators being used in a food-sharing initiative during Ramadan a creative makeover.
Every year during the season of Ramadan, residents in the UAE gather to support a cause which involves sharing food items inside a public refrigerator.
The Ramadan sharing fridges are stocked by residents on a daily basis so that workers can take free food items and water.
However, Cholo and Rosan Juan saw these refrigerators and thought the initiative can be more engaging if they make the fridges visually attractive.
“Adding some color and life to these everyday objects, which are at the heart of the local community and part of a such a fantastic city-wide initiative, is my way of giving back to society,” Juan was quoted by Time Out Dubai as saying.
“Dotted around Dubai from Rashidiya to Jebel Ali, I hope that seeing our fridges also puts a smile on people’s faces or inspires them to donate,” he said.
The two Filipino artists took out their paints and brushes to decorate the said appliances. Through their cause, they were also able to gather over 40 local creatives to help transform the fridges into works of art.
The group of volunteers show their works on an Instagram page @fridgeartindxb which was launched last year.

Over 40 refrigerators have been decorated and many are still under works. Organizers are encouraging more artists to get involved.
