Pilipinas Agila Tires, the first farmer-owned motorcycle tire brand, is set to debut on April 26 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, marking the start of a nation-wide marketing program for utility motorcycles at competitive prices.
In his Facebook post, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said that the motorcycle tire dealers from all over the country will be invited to join the launching, which will be led by the DA and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Philippine Rubber Farmers Cooperative (PRFC), which was organised two years ago as part of the Agriculture department’s program to elevate farmers to the level of processors, will source rubber component from local rubber farmers.
The rubber cup lumps will then be formed to semi-processed rubber cubes called SPR-20, which will then be delivered to Leo Tire Manufacturing in Valenzuela, Bulacan.
Leo Tire will process it into motorcycles tires, initially, and later on a small tractor and multi-cab tires, Piñol said.
