Drinking up to 8 cups of coffee a day is good, study says

DUBAI: What’s even better than drinking eight glasses of water a day?

Eight cups of coffee, said a study by six scientists from the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, Maryland and Feinberg School of Medicine in Northwestern University Chicago, Illinois.

The scientific research into the health benefits of coffee found that coffee is full of antioxidants and nutrients that can benefit one’s health.

Indeed, it says, there is more to drinking coffee to improve alertness, increase energy levels, and improve cognitive function. It appears that drinking coffee may extend your life expectancy by reducing the risk of death from heart disease, diabetes or cancer.

The study tried to find out whether coffee contributes to mortality, and guess what? It doesn’t. On the contrary, the study found that coffee drinkers live longer on average than non-coffee drinkers, said a report taking off from the scientific research published online at Health and Natural World.

More to the point, it report said “people who drink a lot of coffee tend to live longer than people who drink moderately or sparsely.”

The project was done by UK Biobank, a population-based study that invited approximately 9.2 million individuals from across the United Kingdom to participate with follow up stretching a 10-year period from 2006 to 2016, according to a report published in Jama Internal Medicine, a peer-reviewed medical journal published monthly by the American Medical Association.
