Farmers’ son graduates cum laude from college

An eager beaver Filipino student was able to finish college with flying colors despite odds that came his way. Now, he serves as an inspiration to many students as he succeeded beyond all his expectations and graduated Cum Laude from Ateneo de Naga University.

Ariel Quiom, a son of two farmers in Camarines Sur, shared his journey to finishing his studies amid his family’s financial difficulty.

In an report by GMA News, he recounted that he would walk for hours to get to a farm and help his parents, and would go to school without a cent.

He said he was fortunate enough to get a scholarship grant that shouldered his schooling expenses in the university.

It still did not come easy.

“‘Yung mga hirap po na pinagdaanan nina Papa at Mama, parang sila po ‘yung naging inspirasyon ko na gusto ko talagang makatulong sa pamilya ko,” he said.

He remain unfazed and decided to pursue college with determination and hardwork.

These did not go in vain though, as he was able to graduate college and earn his degree in accountancy with flying colors.

Quiom said in the interview that he is happy for this achievement. Without a doubt, a bright future is ahead of him.
