VIRAL: Filipina achieves dream of becoming a teacher thanks to her “kargador” father

On social media, a Filipina netizen proudly introduced her father who works as a ‘kargador’ or porter, thanking him for his hard work that enabled her to finish her college and achieve her dreams of becoming a teacher.

When she was about to graduate last year, Mailyn Esquilito Akoy shared through a Facebook post that life has not been easy for her family but her father, who works as a “kargador”, did everything to make ends meet and provide for his family.

Akoy started off by saying that she is proud of her father’s job and that her parents became her inspiration to achieve all of her academic goals.

They live in an informal settlement for ten years now after their house caught fire.

To help her parents, Akoy said that she has also tried working several jobs.

But despite life’s challenges, her parents, especially her father, turned nights into days to send them to school.

She also shared her father’s constant reminder about finishing her studies. “Anak, mag-aral kang mabuti dahil hanggat may lakas pa akong magtrabaho, makakapag-aral ka. Wag mo akong ikahiya dahil isa lamang akong KARGADOR. Ikaw nalang ang magiging pag-asa namin ng Mama mo,” her father would tell her.

The young Filipina believes that better days are ahead of her and her family with her college diploma.

Fast forward to today, Akoy’s recent social media posts clearly shows that she now works as a teacher and that she is slowly working towards giving her family the comfortable life they deserve.
