A man was arrested at an airport for avoiding an excess luggage fee by putting on some of the clothes that wouldn’t fit in his luggage—eight pairs of pants and ten shirts.
Traveling from Iceland to England, Ryan Carney Williams (who goes by the name Ryan Hawaii on Twitter) said he was denied a boarding pass by the British Airways for the “violation.”
Williams took the incident to Twitter where he claimed that he was arrested him, sprayed with mace and held on the ground by the police after refusing to leave the desk.
Icelandic News Mbi reported that Williams was rude to the airline staff, a claim he denied.
But the incident did not stop there; Williams claims to have been barred entry at different terminals for a different flight, this time booked through EasyJet.
Williams reported the incidents to EasyJet and British Airways both of whom refunded him.
He believes his treatment could have been due to racial profiling, which he writes on his Twitter.
@British_Airways hi being held at Iceland Keflavik airport because I had no baggage put all the clothes on and they still won’t let me on. Racial profiling? Or….. pic.twitter.com/NKgpe1cPFP
