Plane already mid-air returns to terminal for mum who forgot her baby at airport

An airport in Saudi Arabia has encountered a bizarre reason, a first of its kind for the airport, to cut short a flight and return to the terminal from which it had just taken off. That reason was a mother who forgot her baby at the boarding area.

Over the weekend, a flight meant from Jeddah to Kuala Lampur made a return to the airport after a passenger-mother told a cabin crew she had forgotten her baby at the boarding area of one of King Abdul Aziz International Airport terminals, Gulf News reported.

It’s not entirely clear when exactly did the mother realize her baby was not on-board with her but a video went viral on social media which already showed the pilot requesting permission to head back to the airport.

To note, Dubai flights allow planes to return to their points of departure for “emergency” cases.

In the video, the pilot was seen fighting hard to steer the plane back to the terminal to pick up the “poor thing.”

The terminal staff eventually yielded, remarking, “This is totally a new one for us!”
