Meet Marvel’s newest Filipina superhero named ‘Wave’

A Filipina superhero named “Wave” will be the newest addition to Marvel’s multiverse, comic book writer Greg Pak revealed on Saturday.

According to Pak’s tweet, Wave will be among the new “Agents of Atlas” that will debut in May this year.

She will be accompanied by other new Marvel superheroes such as Aero and Sword Master from China in the new series “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1” set in Asia.

“I’m thrilled to share the great @leinilyu’s stunning design of WAVE, Marvel’s new Filipino superhero! Gorgeous colors by @sunnygho! She’ll appear for the first time in WAR OF THE REALMS: NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 in May, with art by Gang-Hyuk Lim,” he said on Twitter.

Based on the sketch provided by Pak, Wave would be doning a black with green stripe costume, with ‘kampilan’ on both hands. Kampilan is a type of single-edged long sword wielded by Mactan ruler Datu Lapu-Lapu.

It was not the first time that Marvel introduced superhero with Filipino heritage.

In 2008, the comic book giant showcased “Triumph Division,” a group of Pinoy superheroes.
