Husband of OFW offers free jeepney rides for senior citizens, PWD, etc.

It is true that a little goes a long way that is why a jeepney driver’s simple act of kindness has caught the attention of many netizens.

It all started when Facebook user Carmina Maricar Corona shared a photo showing the jeepney driver who offers free rides to all senior citizens, persons with disability (PWDs), pregnant women, honor students, as well as students who are children of overseas Filipino workers (OFW), in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

“Kung sino man po makakasakay sa jeep na to’, hahanga din po kayo sa driver nito. He is offering FREE FARE, as in LIBRE, para sa mga Senior Citizens, PWD, pregnant, and honor students. Godbless po Kuya and have a safe biyahe everyday!” the netizen captioned the photo.

Corona ended the post by saying that she hopes no one would attempt to deceive the driver who only wants to do good for the people around him.

After the post went viral, the driver was later identified as Como Iquin Jose and he also took to Facebook to share his side of the story.

He said that because he is offering free rides to some passengers, many assumed that he is rich.

However, he clarified that he also struggles financially, but offering free rides to passengers is his way of helping those who go through the same hardships in life as him.

At one part of his post, he mentioned his wife who has been working as an OFW for 15 years now.

“Kahit ang asawa ko ay isang OFW, hanggang ngayon ay ‘di nakakaraos sa buhay… Sa 15 years kami bilang mag-asawa, bilang ko nasa one year and a half lang kami nagkasama. Talagang sakprisyo. Kasama ‘yan sa buhay. Basta tuloy, enjoy ang sarili sa pang-araw-araw na ginagawa katulad ng ginagawa ko kaya di ako naiinip,” he said.

Jose also said in his post that he only wants to inspire other people do good, and to open their eyes that one doesn’t need money to help.
