Filipina lawyer thanks taho vendor for helping through college

A lawyer expressed her appreciation to a taho vendor who became a huge part of her college days.

Alex Castro admitted in Facebook post that she was one of those students who struggled financially back in college in the University of the Philippines.

Castro said that there were days when she experienced attending classes with an empty stomach.

She narrated that she met ‘Tatay Dong’ when she was a freshman and they quickly became friends.

After knowing her story, Tatay Dong would then wait for her in front of her building to give her a small cup of taho so she can have something for breakfast.

She said Tatay Dong became foster father.  After so many years of not seeing each other, Castro revisited UP to see her Tatay Dong.

“Fortunately, earlier today, word got to you that I was in UP. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw you rushing to the Sunken Garden from afar. When you saw me, you immediately embraced me and exclaimed, “I missed you!” It truly felt like a homecoming,” she said.

And when they finally saw each other once again, Castro decided to tell the good news to her Tatay Dong.

She said: “You held me so tight, and finally, I was able to tell you the words you said you’d wait to hear from me — “‘Tay, may abogado ka na.”

Castro ended her post by saying, “I hope I made you proud, ‘Tay. You deserve all the love in the world.”
