Free screenings of Filipino films at Emirates Short Film Festival 2019

The ongoing Emirates Short Film Festival (ESFF) 2019 will be featuring several Pinoy-made films today, February 26, for free at VOX Grand Cinemas at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai from 12:00 pm onwards.

Free tickets and seatings await individuals, families, friends, from all nationalities who will be available to join and watch the screenings.

Pinoy films included in the shortlist of 27 movies for the ‘Regional Films Category‘ are “Beauty in Darkness” by 2016 TFT Filmmaker of the Year Idelyn ‘Aileen’ Amparo’, “Sa Anino ng kalasag” (Philippines), by John Lloyd Moralda, “Bisberas (Eve)” (Philippines), by Ralph Quincena, “Ang Pagpatay sa mga kuliglig” (Philippines), by John Lloyd Moralda and Bobby De Veyra and “Kapatid”, (Dubai, UAE), by Mike Nerpiol.

The Filipino filmmakers join the ranks of the shortlisted films with directors and fellow filmmakers coming from countries such as Portugal, India, Egypt, Belgium, Syria, Oman, Morocco, Bahrain, Italy and the UAE.

Apart from the Regional Films Category, several Filipinos also join the shortlist for the ‘Professional Films Category’ namely “OFW Diaries”, by 2018 TFT Filmmaker of the Year Melon Quinzon Perez, “Khaled”, by Patrick Fronda and “Heart Between Us”, a film by Gilbert Belleza and Jed Hombrebueno.

In addition, several Pinoy filmmakers also join the ranks of the shortlisted entries for ESFF’s ‘Young Filmmakers Category‘ including “PR659: A one Way Flight Whim”, by Steve Cardona, “One Percent”,  by Bethoven M. Filomeno, “Laro”, by Mike Nerpiol, and ‘This is my story”, by Jules Quirante.

Founded in 2013, the Emirates Short Film Festival (ESFF) was created out of a passion from creating a short film festival in Emirates Airline and Group which then extended to invite UAE-based filmmakers and artists to participate and submit their masterpieces. Since then, the non-profit film festival has received more than 500 plus short films and award-winning content. The ESFF is headed by their CEO and Film Fest Director, Ron Awa.

Winners of this year’s ESFF will be announced at a gala and awarding night set to take place on March 2, 2019.
