How to do the Korean skin care routine

From serums to your favorite face masks, the Korean 10-step skincare routine is making a buzz all over the world due to its effectivity in protecting the skin and preventing the occurrence of potential skin problems.

If you’re interested in giving this intriguing routine a try, here’s what it looks like:

1. Oil cleanser

The Korean skin care routine features a double-cleansing method to ensure that pollutants in the skin are removed. To double cleanse, you must first use an oil-based cleanser. Oil removes makeup and oil-based products such as sunscreen and remaining particles.

Using an oil-based cleanser is still advisable even if you have oily skin. Aside from cleansing, oil softens your skin and creates a glowing appearance.

2. Water-based cleanser / Foam cleansers

Using a water-based or foam cleanser is the latter part of double-cleansing. Water removes remaining impurities in the skin like sweat and dirt.

3. Exfoliator

Just as important as the other steps, exfoliation is a key step in achieving the K-beauty. When you exfoliate, dead skin cells on your skin are removed, preventing the pores from your skin to clog.

Although exfoliation makes your skin bright, this step is not recommended to be done daily. Doing this step everyday may cause overexfoliaton, and skin irritation. You may do this step once or thrice a week depending on your complexion.

4. Toner

Toners rehydrate your dry skin after being on a fragile state. This step also prepares your skin so it can better absorb the following treatments.

5. Essence

What makes the Korean skin care routine unique is the essence. Attributed to the Korean culture, using essence treatment the most important of the routine.

Applying essence hydrates the skin and prepares it for moisturization as it targets the skin at cellular level. Essences are also the right product to fight the signs of aging.
