DUBAI: Ask any overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in this international city that never sleeps five destinations in the Philippines that they would want to see during their holiday break and you stand a good chance you’d get El Nido’s Hidden Beach in the list.
Why? Because the name speaks for itself, having caught the imagination and curiosity of a lot of OFWs who, since Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Beach,” have started looking to the sun-and-sand vacation package as the next best thing to the great outdoors, even Europe’s bucket-list Gothic must-sees.
“Sa website and sa Facebook pages namin, mas hinahanap talaga ng mga kliyente at returning guests namin ang mga destinations ng El Nido. Dahil na din siguro sa mga nakikita nila sa mga blogs pati na din sa mga travel channels. Maganda din naman kasi ang ambiance and talagang malinaw ang tubig sa bawat isla, na para ka na din tumitingin sa salamin,” Palawan News, a local media outfit, quoted Vanessa Marquez, a travel operator in Puerto Princesa City.
El Nido, she said, is preferred for its 45 island wonders and picturesque beach coves worthy of Instagram posts.
Hidden Beach is one of El Nido’s sheltered spots in Bacuit Bay. Canada’s biggest travel agency, Flight Network, according to Palawan News, has last year named it the most beautiful beach in Asia and third in the world.
The tour company reportedly surveyed 1,200 respondents, including editors of known newspapers and print and online magazines, journalists, and travel bloggers.
“Described to have a jagged appearance that exudes raw appeal, Hidden Beach which is part of El Nido’s Tour C in Bacuit Bay, is the only beach spot in the country that made it to Flight Network’s “World’s Top 50 Beaches” list in 2018,” said Palawan News in its report.
