3 kinds of job interviews Filipinos should prepare for in the UAE

As the New Year brings in new opportunities, part of the New Year’s resolutions of some Filipinos would be to excel in the career they have chosen by moving to other companies or have a career shift. Bayt recommends preparing for the following kinds of interviews that usually take place in the UAE.

Phone Interview
An employer who has seen potential in your capacity to work via your CV will either send an email confirming your interest or give you a quick call. This is crucial as you will only have a few minutes to make a good impression to secure the next step. Employers will be asking your availability, skills, and sometimes even your salary expectation to see if it matches theirs.

In case you’re not available to pick up the call, you should be courteous enough to return the call to see how you’ll move forward.

Face-to-Face Interview
The most common of all interviews taking place in the UAE is that one moment where you’ll meet your employer or their HR department to discuss matters for both sides to see if they would fit the job.

Apart from preparing yourself with your responses, another key distinction that candidates should be aware of is their body language and expressions as keen HR managers and employers really look out for such signs.

Panel Interview
If you’re planning to take on a big position on a huge company or if the situation calls for it, you might be called to a panel interview where several members of the board will have a chance to ask you questions for them to deem if you fit the job.

It might seem stressful as you will be presenting yourself in front of several people who already know what they’re looking for – but one factor that your would-be employers would sure be checking is how you handle the pressure. So keep calm and nail that interview!

Whichever kind of interview you’ll end up facing, you’ll have to prepare and do your homework by studying about the job you’re apply for, the company you wish to work for, and rely on your past experiences to relay to them that you’re a capable, competent and dynamic individual ready to face the challenges of that job head on. Good luck!
