Job portal sees ‘healthy job market’ in MENA region

DUBAI: Online vacancy posts are among indicators of a vibrant job market – with this, Bayt.com, has reported a “massive spike” of 35% in the number of jobs made available on site in the third quarter of the year compared to the second, “showcasing a healthy job market and a strong hiring activity level across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,” the portal said in its quarterly report.

Bayt.com, in a media update, noted that the Middle East Job Index Survey last month showed that 9 in 10 employers are planning to hire. “The region’s hiring index has increased by 12 points pointing to a significant growth in hiring activity when compared to 2017. This explains the very busy job posting activity on Bayt.com,” the portal said.

Bayt.com said close to 50,000 new jobs were made available on the site between July and September 2018, indicating revealed an upward trend in online job availability.

“In comparison to the second quarter of 2018, a massive spike of 35% has been witnessed, showcasing a healthy job market and a strong hiring activity level across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,” Bayt.com said.

“So far this year, around 140,000 jobs were announced on Bayt.com, which is about how many jobs were announced during 2017 in total,” said Omar Tahboub, General Manager of Bayt.com. “We can be certain that 2018 will be a very successful year in terms of job availability and talent matchmaking.”
