Beauty blogger ‘SmileLikeNina’ advocates for Filipinas to embrace their beauty inside and out

Back in the Philippines and even here in the UAE, Filipinas continue to find ways to help whiten their skin – through soaps, lotions, as well as other cosmetic products and procedures. However, 2018 TFT New Media Personality of the Year Kristina ‘Nina’ Carpio is changing that perception through her blog ‘SmileLikeNina’ in her efforts for Filipinas to embrace their Morena beauty.

Nina has created vlog series such as the “Morena Makeup series” which aim to show how Filipinas can find ways to show their style and be proud of their skin tone. “The ‘Morena Beauty Series’ project that I created in YouTube is something that I’m really proud of. I’ve received so many feedbacks saying that finally there’s someone that represents the Morenas, and highlights the beauty of being one,” shares Nina.

What’s amazing is how Nina manages to find time to create engaging content as she also heads the HR division of one of the biggest fast food chains in the UAE: “It’s not easy to balance those two big things at once but I am able to manage it.”
The beauty blogger continues to push herself towards creating content that her viewers will love and has even taken further steps to develop her craft. “I have also just recently completed a course in Fashion Styling at the Dubai Fashion Institute and London College of Style, which makes me a certified Fashion Stylist. It’s another skill that I use to reach out and inspire people,” shares Nina.

While the perks of being a social media influencer is what most people seem to notice, Nina said that the responsibilities of being one is quite challenging, which is why she goes back to her three pillars of excellence, integrity, and humility. “I’m always excellent in the way I dress, my personal brand image (because I represent the Filipinos) and the production of my content. I walk the talk. What I share in my social media are the things that I actually believe in. I make sure that success is not mine alone, I give credit to whom credit is due. I keep myself grounded and always try to learn from people,” said Nina.

Nina said that the real pleasure from being a social media influencer is how her content drives people to feel better and more confident about themselves as they go through continuous self-improvement: “The joy that comes from hearing that someone’s life was changed because of my content is a motivation I take with me to keep pushing forward, and shine at what I do.”

as well as her “Fashion Forward Vlogs” and “Korean Skin Care” videos that show how Filipinos can create unique looks and become more fashionable.
