WATCH: Heartwarming video pays tribute to OFWs

Many Filipinos leave their families in the Philippines behind to become an overseas worker, in the hopes of giving their loved ones a shot at a better life.

While the journey abroad seems hopeful because of higher salary and better opportunities, all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) undeniably suffer from a great deal of hardships overseas. Loneliness and homesickness are two things that most of them experience, but they choose to stay and sacrifice abroad in order to provide for their families.

A viral video is making the rounds online, as it fully depicts the life of an OFW who chose to leave his family behind and try his luck abroad.

“Most of our lives have become better because of our Overseas Filipino Workers’ passion, hard work, and sacrifice. How we wish they can come home this Christmas,” the Facebook post captioned.

The short video, created by a local real estate company in the Philippines, pays tribute to all the OFWs for their hard work and sacrifices across the globe.

Entitled “Kami Naman,” the video features a man who leaves his son and wife in the Philippines to become an overseas worker so that he could better provide for them.

Every Christmas, the son waited for his father to come home but to no avail.

Towards the end of the video clip, the man’s kid—now all grown—calls his father to tell him to come back to the Philippines for good. The son turned out as a successful man, thanks to the hard work and sacrifices of his OFW father.

The title “Kami Naman” refers to the kid’s turn to give back to his parents, especially his OFW father.
