A vehicle number plate was sold for a whopping Dh5 million (or over P72 million in Philippine peso) in a recently concluded auction in Sharjah.
An auction of distinguished car number plates generated millions of dirhams on Saturday evening, which included the plate Number 7 that was sold for Dh5 million.
Minutes after the bidding began, the Number 7 plate’s price immediately increased from Dh1 million to Dh5 million.
Other 55 distinguished number plates were sold at the event at the Al Jawhar Center for Conferences and Events which was joined by license plate aficionados.
Other prominent plate numbers were sold for the following prices: plate number 20 at Dh1,900,000, plate number 14 at Dh1,810,000, plate number 55 at Dh1,550,000, and plate number 69 at Dh1,250,000.
His Excellency Abdullah Matar Al Mannai, Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates Auction, said, “We are committed to providing the best services and organizing the best auctions that comply with the vision and standards of all UAE auction partners from government and private entities. And the organization of public and electronic auctions at the state and regional levels.”
The winners of the auction receive a certificate of ownership after the completion of the purchase process in full, as told by Sharjah Police.
