Here’s how tenants can legally become Airbnb hosts in UAE

The world’s largest community for accommodation rentals Airbnb is currently up and running in Dubai. UAE residents can host their homes on Airbnb and earn additional cash on the side.

However, according to Gulf News, only houses located in Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah are allowed to enrol in the home-hosting service.

But the good news is you can rent out your home even if you’re a tenant or don’t already own the house.

Home owners or tenants only need to register their properties through Dubai Tourism’s Holiday Homes and get approval.

Here’s how you could lease out your places for short-term stays legally and directly through Airbnb:

For homeowners:
– Create an online account through the official Holiday Homes website via this link
– Select ‘home owner’ for registration type
– Upload a valid Emirates ID (scanned and/or passport copy)
– After the application is processed, go to the Dubai Tourism office, submit required documents and pay Dh1,590*
– Submit a copy of your title deed and Ejari registration proof
*This amount includes an annual registration fee, classification fee, knowledge fee, and innovation Fee.

For tenants:

Tenants follow the same processes as homeowners with some additional requirements:

– Submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and authorization letter from the real house owner.
– Tenants are not allowed to lease out more than one complete residential unit simultaneously as sharing of rooms is illegal in UAE
– Submit a tenancy contract copy, Ejari registration proof, and Dewa bills with authorization letter from the real house owner
