Netizens are lauding a Facebook user for sharing a heartwarming story about a charitable act he did to a man he randomly met in Taguig.
According to a Facebook post shared by netizen Jaive Joseph Roble, he was on his way home when he was suddenly approached by the man, who he later identified as Jerrick Reyes, asking him for P10 to buy a carton of milk for his child.
“Kanina pa po ako paikot-ikot sa construction sites para makapasok kaso wala pa hong swerte, magiging totoo nalang po ako sa inyo Sir, ‘di alam ng asawa ko ngayong araw namamalimos lang ako ngayon makapagdala lang gatas at pagkain ng baby namin, kaya lang naman naming magtiis dalawa sa asin at suka. Kawawa lang talaga mga bata,” the netizen narrated on his Facebook post.
After pondering if he would give the man the amount of money he was asking for or to buy the milk himself, Roble decided to go with the second option and took Reyes to a nearby supermarket.
“Hindi ako sure at that point kung bigyan ko lang ba sya ng pera at umalis na, o ako na mismo bumili ng gatas, since malapit na kami sa may Market Market so I told him, ‘Tara Kuya pasok tayong Market’,” he added.
Reyes hesitated to come with Roble at first saying that he would not be allowed to enter the mall, but the netizen was able to find a way to convince him.
“Wag ka mag-alala pinagtagpo tayo ng Diyos ngayong araw, magkapatid tayo, ako bahala sa’yo! Di gaanong marami pera ko pero ‘lika,” Roble said.
Aside from the milk that Reyes wanted to buy, Roble decided to buy him some chicken, liver, and ground meat so that they would have something to eat on that day.
“Darating din ang panahon Sir, magkikita tayo ulit, ako naman manglilibre sa inyo!” Roble quoted Reyes as saying in the post.
Roble then ended his post by sharing a realization he had that day he helped Reyes.
“Minsan nakakapanghina ng loob ang mga problema. Today, I realized Im still blessed to have this life, do not have much right now but will get there. Kapit lang sa Dios,” he said.
