The term “upcycling” may be a foreign term for many, especially since most people are more used to the term “recycling” – but most OFWs may have been doing this already. This is the process of transforming used or unwanted materials into whole new different products.
TFT Lifestyle TV’s Dan on the Go interviews LBC Express Area Manager Ken Peralta on how LBC Express’ customers can upcycle their LBC lifestyle crates to transform them into different kinds of furnitures.
Multipurpose crates
Peralta explains that with LBC Express’ new crates, customers can not only receive their items in a secure manner, they can also re-purpose these crates to be transformed into new items. “Ang dating crating, plywood lang – tapos idi-dispose mo na yun. Eto naman, meron tayong bagong crating system na may strips of wood, a pallet – na kita mo yung items sa loob. After you use it for transporting your, for example, TV from UAE to the Philippines, pwede mong gamitin yung crate as a TV stand. Pwedeng ding maging cabinet, or desk, or table,” said Peralta.

The box itself is made from 5 and 7-ply wood, making it really thick and durable. The box also has hinges which make it an effective and safe storage space for any item you will ship. With introductory rates ranging from Dh 80 to Dh 120 depending on the size of the crate, LBC’s lifestyle crates made out of durable, high quality wood ensure the customer that their appliance will get to their destination in safely and securely. “(The LBC lifestyle crate is) available at all branches. We have samples in the branch na makikita nila – they can see it, touch it, and feel it,” explains Peralta.
