Dubai Central Lab to use high-end device for food safety

Three months before the 10th World of Perishables (WOP) exhibition, the Dubai Central Lab (DCL) will launch a new device to ensure food safety across the emirate.

The new device will be used to detect chemicals in fruits and vegetables more accurately and will triple DCL’s current capacity to inspect 600 types of samples per day, reported Khaleej Times.

The move aims to ensure that all fruits and vegetables entering the emirate are pesticide-free and fit for human consumption.

The WOP event is a platform where fresh produce businesses can discuss the industry’s practices and opportunities. Around 38 countries are expected to participate this year.
