Overseas Filipino worker can avail of PagIbig Housing loan whether he/she intends to purchase a fully developed residential lot (not exceeding 1,000 square meters), a house and lot, a condominium unit or to construct a house.
To apply for a housing loan at Pag-Ibig, an OFW must be a member either of Pag-Ibig I, Pag-Ibig II or Pag-Ibig Overseas Program (POP) for at least 24 months.
It does not mean that an OFW needs to be a member for two (2) years, because he/she can pay the required 24-month contribution through lump sum payment.
The loan, of course, is still subject to standard evaluation procedures and the applicant must satisfactory pass Pag-Ibig Fund background check to be able to acquire a loan.
If an OFW has an outstanding loan with the agency, it has to be settled first.
