One of the highlights of the two-day property event is a discussion among role model overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on how to best shine in the workplace.

Moderated by Karen Remo, New Perspective Media managing partner and The Filipino Times editor-in-chief, the panel discussion featured Joseph Alcantara, marketing communications manager at Emirates Airline’s Corporate Communications’ Marketing & Brand division; and Joanne Rico, The Filipino Times 2017 Marketing and Advertising Professional of the Year.

Alcantara was one of the only two applicants out of 350 from around the world chosen for the job. He was the person behind Emirate Airline’s “Hello Tomorrow” tagline. (See related story in this edition’s Pinoy Ka Nga! section)

“Hope this inspires my countrymen to always dream big and proudly wave our flag wherever we go,” he said. (More of him on The Filipino Times Facebook page, too.)

For her part, Rico discussed why you shouldn’t take it against your boss when he or she asks you to do things beyond your job description.

“For one, it only means your boss is giving you an opportunity to grow,” said Rico. “Another is that it shows your boss trust you enough to give you such a task; and third, is that it will work to your advantage in the long run as future employers would see how good at you are.”
