A photo of Filipino student Mark Cuilao Pedernal from Sta. Cruz, Marinduque, holding a fighting cock in his graduation photo is making the rounds online.

The 16-year-old Grade 10 student who will graduate in April this year told Kicker Daily that he and his classmate thought of bringing a fighting cock with him because cockfighting (sabong in Tagalog) has always been his hobby since he was 11 years old.

Pedernal said he inherited his grandfather’s interest in cockfighting and even dreamed of creating a name in the cockfighting industry and be a breeder of gamefowls.

He said that the sports has never been a hinder to his studies, and instead became his biggest inspiration to graduate on time.

He also plans to go to college and take up a culinary course.

The photo which was uploaded on February 6, 2018 went viral in just five hours of posting, garnering over 4,000 shares and 400 reactions at the moment.
