Arjo Atayde camp breaks silence on being positive for COVID-19, leaving Baguio City

The film company handling the production of Arjo Atayde’s movie in Baguio City broke their silence after Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong accuses Atayde of leaving the city even after testing positive for COVID-19.

The mayor said that he texted Atayde and the actor said that he is asymptomatic.

“Positive siya. Kaya lang bigla siya umalis kahapon without our knowledge, claiming na siya lang daw ang asymptomatic. At yung mga kasama niya, asymptomatic, iniwanan na lang niya…” Magalong said.

“May potential na puwede siya maka-infect ng iba dahil sa ginawa niya. I’m in touch with him. Binibigyan ko lang siya ng instructions na, ‘Make sure na lahat ng tao mo walang lalabas, walang aalis. Only to find out na iniwanan na pala niya at nakaalis na siya,” he added.

Feelmaking Productions head Ellen Criste issued the statement to clarify the issue.

She said that it was a mutual decision of the team, Arjo’s family and his doctors for him to return to Manila.

“Arjo Atayde tested positive for COVID-19 as shooting for his new film culminated in Baguio last August 16. Arjo was suffering from high fever, headaches, and difficulty in breathing,” she said.

“It was the mutual decision of Feelmaking Productions Inc., Arjo’s parents, and doctors to rush the actor, who has a pre-existing medical condition, straight to a hospital in Manila on August 17,” the statement added.

The production company also said that they have provided assistance to other individuals who also tested positive for the virus.

“We have provided assistance for nine others who tested positive for COVID-19 but are asymptomatic and are currently in quarantine. We have likewise coordinated with the local officials for the necessary safety protocols,” she said. (TDT)
