RC Cola’s unique ad goes viral as it gets most netizens confused

Soda brand RC made rounds on social media recently following its advertisement released on November 27 that made people scratch their heads with its confusing plot.

Its short promotional video, which was published on all RC’s social media platforms, bears the caption: “Di naman kailangan ng maraming rason para bumili ka! Basta ‘pag nauhaw ang pamilya, RC Cola! #BastaRCCola.”

The ad starts like a family drama that follows a boy who returns home and questions his mother if he was adopted.

It then takes an odd turn when the boy takes off his uniform, lies on the table face down, and reveals that he has four glasses on his back. The mother then removes her head to show that she was actually a bottle of RC Cola.

The last scene shows the rest of the family drinking the soda using glasses on the boy’s back.

The ad instantly went viral, garnering over 1.2 million views on YouTube as of this writing, and becoming a trending topic on Twitter over the weekend. It received mixed reactions from netizens, with many noting their confusion about what it wants to convey.

It was also the most about topics in local and overseas communities in Reddit recently.
